How Fossils & DNA Work
How Dig Sites, fossil sets, Dr. Ivy, and DNA eggs fit together.
From dig site to egg
Marked Dig Sites can yield fossils, coin results, or Buried Treasure. Bring a completed creature fossil set to Dr. Ivy at the DNA Lab on Home Island to exchange it for an egg.

Fossils required
| Dinosaur group | Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Big island | 3 fossils | General DNA Lab rule |
| Small island | 5 fossils | General DNA Lab rule |
| Cambrian period dinosaurs | 5 fossils each | Period requirement |
| Devonian period dinosaurs | 5 fossils each | Period requirement |
| Triassic period dinosaurs | 3 fossils each | Period requirement |

Cambrian fossil rewards
These coin and XP amounts were observed for Cambrian fossil pickups. Rewards have not been confirmed across later periods.
| Rarity | Coins | XP |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 6 | 30 |
| Uncommon | 12 | 54 |
| Rare | 30 | 105 |
| Epic | 75 | 210 |
| Legendary | 225 | 450 |

Other dig outcomes
- Fossil: Dig Sites can yield creature fossils.
- Coin result: Captured no-fossil results show 36 or 40 coins. A +18 XP indicator appears, but the owner has not confirmed it belongs to that result.
- Buried Treasure: Contents have not been captured.
The current captures show no-fossil results of 36 and 40 coins. The +18 XP indicator is visible but its connection to the coin result is unresolved.

Cretaceous Seas
The Fossils menu lists six rare Cretaceous Seas eggs as fishing catches. Their names and full fishing rules are not captured. They are not normal Dig Site fossil sets.
